My Services

I offer non-directive play therapy and attachment based parent/child sessions - see further information below.
Play Therapy

Play Therapy gives children the opportunity to process their thoughts and emotions in a safe environment through the natural language of play.
There are many reasons why children access
Play Therapy, for example, following a trauma,
difficulties with attachment, issues regulating
behaviour, lack of self-esteem, anxiety and
more.
Heart to Heart - Parent Child Session

Informal activities and games to help strengthen your relationship with your child.
My Approach

I practise non-directive play therapy based on the principles of Virginia Axline. It is important to establish a warm and friendly relationship with the child as soon as possible in order for trust to build; the child takes the lead in the playroom choosing from the extensive play kit and I provide a safe place in which the child is free to process their feelings through play and creativity. I will reflect back to the child observations that may help them gain a deeper insight in to their thoughts and feelings. It is a natural but powerful process and research has proven it to be very effective with children.
Why Play Therapy?

Play is vital to every child for their development in many areas; social, emotional, cognitive, physical, creativity and language/ communication.
Through play, a child can learn to understand more about their feelings which can help them to regulate their emotions more effectively.
Why Heart to Heart?

For many reasons, the attachment process between child and parent can be adversely affected. Heart to Heart is a gentle, fun programme for a parent and child to explore and develop their relationship, leading to greater understanding and a more secure attachment.
